Amad Secures Long-Term Manchester United Deal

Amad has officially extended his contract with Manchester United, committing to the club until 2030. The 22-year-old Ivorian winger has been with United since his transfer from Atalanta in 2021.

In his time at Old Trafford, Amad has made 50 appearances and scored nine goals. Speaking to the club’s website, he expressed his excitement: “I am really proud to have signed this new contract. I have had some incredible moments with this club already, but there is so much more to come. I have huge ambitions in the game and I want to achieve history at Manchester United.”

Amad gained recognition during his loan spells at Rangers and Sunderland. In the 2022/23 season with Sunderland, he delivered standout performances, scoring 14 goals in 39 appearances. His efforts earned him the Sunderland Young Player of the Year award and the PFA Championship Fans’ Player of the Year accolade.

Since returning to Manchester United for the 2023/24 season, Amad has continued to impress. Key moments include his decisive winner against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals and his contributions under head coach Ruben Amorim. This season, Amad has registered two goals and four assists in eight Premier League starts. His goals include a winner against Manchester City and a dramatic equaliser against Liverpool at Anfield.

Currently, Manchester United is positioned 13th in the Premier League standings, with a record of six wins, five draws, and nine losses.

The team has faced challenges this season, including a recent 0-2 home defeat to Newcastle, which has raised concerns about their playing style and potential relegation risks.

Amad’s extension reflects Manchester United’s strategy to invest in young talent, aiming to build a squad capable of competing at the highest levels in the coming years. His development and performances will be instrumental as the club navigates the challenges of the current season and beyond.

Amad’s impact has drawn comparisons to club legends. By scoring at both the Etihad and Anfield in a single Premier League season, he joins an elite group of United players, including Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.
