Jurrien Timber will be unavailable for Arsenal’s last Premier League match against Southampton due to ankle surgery performed on Tuesday. The Dutch defender missed the recent 1-0 victory over Newcastle, and manager Mikel Arteta confirmed Timber’s absence for several weeks. Timber has participated in 48 matches across all competitions this season after recovering from an ACL injury that sidelined him last year. Arteta praised Timber, stating, “We didn’t sign a player, we signed a leader, a very, very special character.” Additionally, William Saliba will also miss the upcoming game due to a hamstring injury sustained during the match against Newcastle. Saliba was forced off at halftime during his 100th Premier League appearance. Arsenal can secure second place in the league with a win or draw at St Mary’s Stadium.
