Chelsea is actively pursuing new attacking talent as they prepare for the upcoming Club World Cup. The club has engaged in discussions with representatives of forward Nico Williams, who currently plays for Athletic Bilbao. The special transfer window from June 1 to June 10 offers Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, a chance to enhance the squad before the tournament.
Williams, who has a £49 million release clause, is attracting interest from several top European clubs. Chelsea is among five teams, including Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle United, that have recently held talks with the player’s camp.
The competition for Williams’ signature is intense. Although his future remains undecided, those close to him suggest a move to England is likely. However, his decision may depend on Bilbao’s final standing in La Liga this season. With only three games left in the league, Williams remains focused on helping his team secure Champions League qualification.
Wayne Rooney praised Williams’ abilities, comparing him to a young Cristiano Ronaldo due to his size and decision-making skills.
