Manchester City is reportedly considering Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincao as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who may be leaving the club soon. Trincao, who previously played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, has been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium. Despite interest from other Premier League clubs such as Newcastle United, Arsenal, and Manchester United, City sees Trincao as a viable option to bolster their midfield.
Trincao’s performance in Portugal has been impressive, with 18 assists in 51 appearances this season. His career total of 53 assists is notable, though it falls short of De Bruyne’s remarkable 177 assists for City. Nevertheless, his versatility across multiple positions could make him a valuable asset for Pep Guardiola’s team.
The Portuguese winger’s previous stint in the Premier League saw him score three goals and provide one assist in 30 matches for Wolves. However, his recent form at Sporting suggests he has developed significantly since then.
With a reported price tag of £34 million, Trincao could be an affordable option for Manchester City as they look to maintain their creative edge in midfield.
