Fulham Triumph Over Brighton 3-1 as Alex Iwobi Shines with a Brace

Fulham secured a 3-1 victory against Brighton at Craven Cottage, with Alex Iwobi delivering a standout performance, scoring twice to propel Marco Silva’s team to sixth place in the Premier League standings.

Fulham capitalized on an early mistake by Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, as Iwobi pressed high and converted the opportunity in the fourth minute. Despite the early setback, Brighton dominated much of the first half but struggled to find the net. Attempts from Joao Pedro and Simon Adingra were thwarted by Fulham’s goalkeeper Bernd Leno, keeping the hosts in control.

Brighton eventually leveled the score in the second half when Carlos Baleba executed a well-timed volley. However, Fulham regained their lead shortly afterward, benefiting from an own goal by Brighton’s Matt O’Riley.

Iwobi sealed the win with a spectacular curling shot late in the game, marking his third goal in the last four matches. The Nigerian international has been pivotal for Fulham recently, also contributing two assists during this impressive run.

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Iwobi has become a key figure for both club and country. Having started his professional career with Arsenal, he later moved to Everton before joining Fulham. For the Nigerian national team, Iwobi has earned over 60 caps, scoring 11 goals. His recent form with Fulham highlights his growing influence in the Premier League.

Brighton faced additional adversity as manager Fabian Hurzeler served a one-match touchline ban. Despite showing promise with controlled play and attacking attempts, the team failed to capitalize, leaving them unable to climb the league standings.

Fulham’s victory bolsters their campaign for a strong Premier League finish, while Brighton will need to regroup and address their defensive vulnerabilities ahead of their next fixture.
