Jamie Vardy is set to leave Leicester City at the end of the season, as his contract with the club is due to expire. The 37-year-old striker has confirmed that he will not consider offers from Championship sides and intends to continue his career in the Premier League.
Vardy, a key figure in Leicester’s historic 2015/16 Premier League title win, has made over 400 appearances for the Foxes and scored more than 170 goals across all competitions. Despite Leicester’s likely promotion back to the top flight, the veteran forward appears ready to move on from the club he joined in 2012 from then non-league Fleetwood Town.
Speaking about his plans, Vardy made it clear that his ambition is to stay in the Premier League, dismissing the possibility of dropping down a division.
“I won’t be considering any Championship offers,” he said. “My focus is on continuing at the top level.”
Vardy’s impact at Leicester has been immense. He won the Premier League Golden Boot in the 2019/20 season and holds the record for scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League matches. Known for his pace, clinical finishing, and relentless work rate, he remains one of the most respected forwards in English football.
What’s Next?
While no specific clubs have been confirmed as potential destinations, Premier League sides in need of experienced firepower could show interest in signing the veteran on a free transfer this summer.
Leicester are on course for promotion under manager Enzo Maresca, but Vardy’s exit marks the end of an era. His departure will close a remarkable chapter in the club’s modern history.
