Portuguese forward João Félix will spend the upcoming season on loan at AC Milan. The deal does not include a purchase option, meaning he will return to Atlético Madrid after the loan period ends.
Félix, who is under contract with Atlético Madrid, is set to undergo a medical examination before officially joining the Italian club.
A product of Benfica’s academy, Félix made a record-breaking €126 million move to Atlético in 2019. Despite making over 100 appearances for the Madrid club, he struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup. Last season, he played on loan at Barcelona.
AC Milan, one of Europe’s most successful clubs with seven UEFA Champions League titles, has been actively strengthening its squad in recent years to compete for top honors in Serie A and European competitions.
Atlético Madrid is continuing to seek opportunities for Félix, as he is not part of the club’s long-term plans under the current coaching staff.
The loan move to Milan offers Félix a chance to revive his career by gaining more playing time in a competitive league. The Italian club expects him to boost their attacking options for the upcoming season.
