Liverpool has initiated discussions to potentially sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, valued at approximately £126 million. The club is keen on strengthening its squad ahead of the summer transfer window. Although the window officially opens in June, Liverpool is already making moves, including nearing a deal for defender Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. Frimpong is seen as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is expected to join Real Madrid.
In addition to Wirtz, Liverpool has shown interest in other players such as Lyon’s Rayan Cherki, who could be available for around £19 million. However, Wirtz remains a primary target due to his impressive performance with Bayer Leverkusen, where he has scored 57 goals and provided 65 assists in 196 appearances.
Despite the interest from Liverpool, reports suggest that Bayern Munich might be a more likely destination for Wirtz if he decides to leave Leverkusen. The German international has been instrumental in Leverkusen’s success under manager Xabi Alonso, contributing significantly to their Bundesliga title win without losing a game in the 2023-24 season.
