Mohamed Salah has committed to Liverpool for an additional two years, extending his tenure with the club to a decade. The Egyptian forward, who has scored 243 goals in 394 appearances, is now third on Liverpool’s all-time top scorers list. This new contract ends months of speculation about his future.
Salah is the first among key players, including Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, to renew his contract. Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed the two-year extension during a press conference.
“Of course I’m very excited,” Salah stated. “We have a great team now and I believe we can win more trophies together.”
Salah has been a pivotal figure in Liverpool’s success, having been the Premier League’s top scorer three times and winning seven major trophies, including the Premier League title in 2020 and the Champions League in 2019.
This season, Salah’s contribution of 27 league goals has helped Liverpool maintain an 11-point lead in their pursuit of a record-tying 20th English top-flight title.
Attention now shifts to whether Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold will also extend their contracts with Liverpool. Van Dijk hinted at progress in negotiations but did not disclose further details. Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a potential move to Real Madrid.
