Ange Postecoglou has recorded more Premier League defeats in the current campaign than Mauricio Pochettino suffered during his entire three-season spell with Tottenham Hotspur. The Australian manager has overseen 18 league losses in his debut season at the helm.
Postecoglou, who joined the North London club after a successful tenure with Celtic, implemented an attacking and high-tempo style of play. However, despite producing entertaining football, Tottenham have struggled to convert performances into consistent results. Many of their losses have been by narrow margins, highlighting issues with game management and defensive stability.
In comparison, Pochettino recorded 17 Premier League defeats across his first three full seasons in charge at Spurs (2014–2017), a period during which the club consistently competed for top-four finishes and reached the Champions League final in 2019.
While the season has proven challenging for Tottenham under Postecoglou, his attacking philosophy and willingness to promote young talent suggest potential for long-term development. The club now faces key decisions ahead of the next campaign to regain stability and consistency in results.
