Manchester City’s midfielder Rodri made a significant return to the field on Tuesday after an eight-month hiatus due to a knee injury. The Spanish international was warmly welcomed by fans as he substituted for Erling Haaland in the 83rd minute during City’s 3-1 victory over Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium. This marked Rodri’s first appearance since he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in a match against Arsenal last September. At that time, Manchester City was leading the Premier League standings, but eventually, they lost the title to Liverpool. Currently, Pep Guardiola’s team is positioned third and is set to face Fulham in their final game of the season. A draw would likely secure them a spot in next season’s Champions League. Last year, Rodri was awarded the Ballon d’Or following his instrumental role in Spain’s Euro victory and also celebrated winning the Premier League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup with Manchester City.
