Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min has lodged a criminal complaint with South Korean authorities following an alleged blackmail attempt. According to police in Gangnam, Seoul, a woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s have been detained on suspicion of extortion. The woman reportedly claimed last year that she was pregnant with Son’s child and demanded money to keep silent. The man allegedly approached Son again in March for financial gain. Son’s agency stated that he is the “clear victim” and emphasized their commitment to pursuing legal action against those involved in the alleged plot. Meanwhile, Tottenham is set to face Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao on Wednesday. Since joining Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, Son has scored 173 goals across 451 appearances.
