Tottenham Hotspur secured progression in the UEFA Europa Conference League, overcoming a first-leg deficit to defeat AZ Alkmaar 3-1 in the second leg and 3-2 on aggregate.
In the decisive match, Tottenham opened the scoring through Virginius Odobert in the 26th minute, assisted by Dominic Solanke. Shortly after halftime, James Maddison doubled the lead in the 48th minute, with an assist from Son Heung-Min.
AZ Alkmaar responded in the 63rd minute as Teun Koopmeiners narrowed the deficit to 2-1, reigniting the Dutch team’s hopes. However, Tottenham sealed their victory with another goal from Odobert—his second of the evening—in the 74th minute.
Late substitutions saw both teams seeking tactical adjustments, with Spurs introducing Brennan Johnson, Yves Bissouma, and Ben Davies. AZ Alkmaar’s Jordy Clasie received a yellow card in stoppage time (90+5′) and will miss the next European match.
