Tottenham Hotspur has emerged as the frontrunner to sign Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane, following their recent Europa League triumph. The win not only ended Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought but also enhanced their appeal to top-tier players. Tottenham is set to receive £38 million in prize money from the Europa League victory and at least £15.7 million from qualifying for the Champions League.
Leroy Sane, who will be a free agent after June 30, has been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea. However, Tottenham’s success in Europe has reportedly put them ahead in the race to secure his signature. Despite ongoing talks between Sane’s agent Pini Zahavi and other clubs, Tottenham’s position in the Champions League next season makes them an attractive option.
Sane has a proven track record with 61 goals and 55 assists in 220 appearances for Bayern Munich, including significant contributions in the Champions League. His experience in the Premier League with Manchester City further adds to his appeal.
Discussions over a new contract for Sane have stalled, partly due to his current wage demands of £242,000 per week. Zahavi recently met with Bayern officials to discuss Sane’s future.
