Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly interested in signing French winger Rayan Cherki as a potential replacement for their current captain, Son Heung-min. With a Europa League final approaching, the club’s management is planning significant squad changes for the upcoming summer transfer window.
The need to strengthen the left-wing position has become apparent, with Wilson Odobert yet to secure his place and Mathys Tel’s future uncertain. Additionally, Son Heung-min’s performance has seen a decline compared to previous seasons.
Recent reports suggest Tottenham is among several clubs, including Manchester City and Liverpool, showing interest in Cherki. The 21-year-old player from Lyon could be available for around £19 million this summer.
Cherki has demonstrated impressive statistics this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 19 assists in 43 appearances. His versatility allows him to play on both wings and in midfield positions. Comparatively, Son has recorded 11 goals and 12 assists in 44 games.
As Tottenham seeks to revitalize their squad, Cherki’s potential arrival could mark a significant step towards maintaining competitive performance levels.
