Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has expressed confidence that the team’s Premier League title celebrations will not be overshadowed by Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s departure. The right-back, who announced his exit last week, is expected to join Real Madrid after his contract ends in June. Despite being booed by some fans during a recent match against Arsenal, Van Dijk emphasized the importance of celebrating their record-equalling 20th English top-flight title with Alexander-Arnold included in the festivities. The celebration at Anfield is scheduled for May 25, followed by an open-top bus parade in the city. Van Dijk stated, ‘We want to win two more games and after the final whistle, including him [Alexander-Arnold], lift the trophy up and celebrate like we have never done before.’ He also noted that while Alexander-Arnold’s decision to leave might bring mixed reactions, it should not detract from the achievements of other players deserving recognition.
