Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has emphasized the importance of making informed decisions for Orlando Pirates players considering moves to Europe. Broos, who has selected eight players from the club for upcoming matches against Mozambique and Tanzania, highlighted the need for young talents like Relebohile Mofokeng, Mohau Nkota, and Mbekezeli Mbokazi to ensure they secure adequate playing time if they choose to transfer abroad.
Broos stated, “The only advice I can give is, they have to make the right choice.” He further advised that players should remain with Orlando Pirates if a move does not guarantee them game time. “If you go to a club where you don’t play or don’t have a chance to play, I think then it’s better to stay one more year at Orlando Pirates” he added.
The coach also expressed hope that agents prioritize the player’s future over financial gains. He cited Shandre Campbell’s experience in Belgium as an example of beneficial development despite not playing in the first team. Broos concluded by expressing optimism that any potential moves would be to suitable clubs where players can continue their growth.
With Mamelodi Sundowns players unavailable for June friendlies, Broos has relied heavily on Orlando Pirates’ squad members like Mofokeng, who have been integrated into his team over the past year.
