Mamelodi Sundowns are aiming to replicate their 2016 success in the CAF Champions League as they prepare for the final. The team, led by Aubrey Modiba, is inspired by their past triumph under former coach Pitso Mosimane when they defeated Zamalek. This year, they face another Northern African opponent in the finals.
The current squad includes Themba Zwane and Denis Onyango, who were part of the victorious 2016 team. Kennedy Mweene, now a goalkeeper coach, also shares his experience with the team. Modiba emphasized the influence of past winners on new players, stating that their guidance instilled a winning mentality.
As Sundowns gear up for the first leg at Loftus Versfeld, Modiba expressed a desire to bring back the joy and celebrations that followed their previous victory. He hopes to see fans and club members share in that happiness once more.
