Jose Riveiro concluded his tenure as head coach of Orlando Pirates with a decisive 3-0 win against Lamontville Golden Arrows. During his final press conference, Riveiro confirmed he would not coach any other team in South Africa, stating, “No, never. Once, Always.” He emphasized his commitment to the Orlando Pirates, saying they are the only club he could coach in the country.
Under Riveiro’s leadership, Orlando Pirates secured five trophies, including three MTN 8 Cups and two Nedbank Cups. His tenure also saw the team achieve a 62% win ratio and set a club record for wins. Despite not winning a league title, the team qualified for three consecutive CAF Champions League tournaments and reached six domestic cup finals. They also made it to the CAF Champions League semi-final.
Reports indicate that Riveiro is set to join Al Ahly in Egypt, where he will embark on a new chapter with another prominent African club.
