Jose Riveiro Takes Helm at Al Ahly: New Era Begins

Jose Riveiro, the former coach of Orlando Pirates, has been appointed as the new head coach of Al Ahly. Riveiro, who led the Pirates since the start of the 2023/24 season and secured five trophies with them, decided not to extend his contract that was set to expire on June 30, 2025. The Pirates confirmed this week that Riveiro requested an early termination to join a new club, which they approved. Al Ahly announced today that Riveiro has signed a two-year contract to replace Marcel Koller. His first major task will be leading Al Ahly in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where they are grouped with Palmeiras, Porto, and Inter Miami.
