Mduduzi Shabalala, a 21-year-old player for Kaizer Chiefs, recently appeared as a substitute in the team’s Nedbank Cup victory over Orlando Pirates. Despite being named in a preliminary Bafana Bafana squad, he did not make the final selection by coach Hugo Broos. Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs have announced the release of Sabelo Radebe. Radebe, who joined the senior team in 2017, made only two appearances in the Betway Premiership this season and has played a total of 18 matches for the club. In another development, Asanele Velebayi’s potential move to Kaizer Chiefs is looking more likely as Stellenbosch FC has decided not to pursue him due to having a similar player profile in Langelihle Phili. Velebayi’s current team, Cape Town Spurs, was relegated to South Africa’s third tier after finishing 15th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
