Kaizer Chiefs are set to return to continental interclub competition through the CAF Confederation Cup following their recent Nedbank Cup victory. The unveiling of the new CAF Champions League trophy in Johannesburg coincides with their preparation, serving as an inspiration for the team. Although not participating in the CAF Champions League, Kaizer Chiefs’ involvement in the Confederation Cup has sparked considerable interest. The club previously reached the 2021 CAF Champions League final against Al Ahly. Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung emphasized the significance of the CAF Interclub Trophy Reveal, highlighting its role in promoting excellence and competitiveness in African football. Motaung praised the dedication of fans and noted the collaboration between CAF and the Africa Club Association (ACA) as crucial for advancing club football on the continent. The new trophy will debut when Mamelodi Sundowns face Pyramids FC in the upcoming CAF Champions League final. According to Luxolo September, Head of TV and Communications at CAF, 30% of the design retains elements from its predecessor, while 70% introduces innovative features.
