The Mamelodi Sundowns are set to face Pyramids FC in a crucial second-leg match of the CAF Champions League final on Sunday evening in Cairo, Egypt. The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw, with Lucas Ribeiro scoring for Sundowns and Walid El Karti equalizing for Pyramids FC during stoppage time.
Ahead of the decisive match, Sundowns’ chairman Tlhopane Motsepe expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure victory and reclaim the title of African champions. “That’s what we want, to go there as African champions” Motsepe stated.
Reflecting on the season, Motsepe noted that being one game away from the CAF Champions League title is a position they have aspired to be in every season. He praised the team’s energy and highlighted their progress despite challenges such as not having a preseason or selecting players under the current coach.
The outcome of this match will determine if Sundowns can achieve their long-standing goal of becoming African champions once again.
