Orlando Pirates are preparing for significant changes ahead of the 2025/26 season, marking a new chapter without coach Jose Riveiro, who has joined Al Ahly. The club is reportedly undergoing a squad revamp, with at least five new signings anticipated and several players expected to depart. Among those leaving are Miguel Timm and captain Innocent Maela, creating a need for defensive reinforcements.
The Pirates are eyeing Stellenbosch FC’s Thabo Moloisane and Fawaaz Basadien as potential additions to bolster their defense. Previously, the club showed interest in Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo from Golden Arrows. Hlatshwayo has now parted ways with Arrows after not featuring in any matches during the 2024/25 PSL season. He is available on a free transfer and could be an option for clubs seeking defensive versatility.
Hlatshwayo, who can play both right-back and center-back, was linked with Orlando Pirates in 2023, though no move occurred at that time.
