Orlando Pirates are in search of a new head coach as Jose Riveiro prepares to depart the team. The club’s management is now focused on finding a suitable replacement.
Several prominent names have surfaced as potential candidates for the position. Among them are Pitso Mosimane, Benni McCarthy, Rulani Mokwena, and Manqoba Mnqithi. However, Mosimane has not commented on these speculations and remains unattached at present.
Benni McCarthy, another fan favorite, recently joined the Kenyan national team, Harambee Stars, which makes his return to South Africa unlikely in the near future.
Rulani Mokwena has emerged as a leading contender after parting ways with Wydad Casablanca. His previous experience with Orlando Pirates in 2019 adds to his candidacy. Manqoba Mnqithi is also linked to the role, though this is based on speculation.
Internally, Carlos Nodar Paz and Mandla Ncikazi are considered potential successors if the club decides to promote from within. Reports suggest that an internal appointment could be likely.
