South African right-back Mhleli Mabuza has completed a trial with Kaizer Chiefs without receiving an offer, leaving the club’s supporters questioning the decision. The 24-year-old, known for his attacking skills and experience in Europe, is now exploring other opportunities. During his time with Chiefs, Mabuza trained under the technical team while the club focused on concluding their Betway Premiership season. Despite expectations, no contract was offered.
Mabuza recently finished a successful season in Portugal with Louletano DC, where he earned recognition as the Best Right-Back in the Campeonato de Portugal after providing nine assists. His performances have attracted interest from a newly-promoted Portuguese third-tier club that has already extended a contract offer.
As Mabuza’s contract with Louletano has expired, he is now a free agent. Local PSL clubs such as AmaZulu FC, TS Galaxy, and Sekhukhune United are reportedly interested in signing him without incurring transfer fees. However, the European offer requires a decision by June 30.
