As the Premier League season approaches its conclusion, the battle for top-five positions intensifies. Newcastle United, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, and Aston Villa are all vying for a coveted European spot. A key match between Newcastle and Chelsea could prove decisive.
Newcastle is hopeful of securing Champions League football at St James’ Park, which could influence their pursuit of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. The 25-year-old forward has attracted interest from Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur as well. Brentford is reportedly open to offers for Mbeumo, valued at £60 million.
Mbeumo has scored 18 league goals this season and would strengthen Newcastle’s attack alongside players like Alexander Isak. However, Newcastle already boasts talents such as Anthony Gordon, who has contributed nine goals and six assists in league play.
Gordon’s performance metrics over the past year show similarities to Mbeumo’s style of play. Despite Mbeumo’s higher goal tally, Gordon excels in several statistical categories. As Newcastle considers their options, they may decide whether to invest in Mbeumo or rely on their existing squad depth.
