Jose Riveiro’s Stellar Run at Orlando Pirates Sparks Coach of the Season Talks

Former Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi has highlighted the achievements of former coach Jose Riveiro, suggesting he is a strong contender for the Coach of the Season award. Riveiro departed from the Buccaneers earlier this month after a successful two-and-a-half-year tenure, during which he secured five domestic trophies, including three MTN8 titles and two Nedbank Cups. Under his leadership, Pirates also finished second in the league three times and reached a CAF Champions League semi-final this season. Lekgwathi praised Riveiro’s performance and discipline, noting that his humble demeanor and lack of conflicts with others could be advantageous in the voting process. He remarked on Riveiro’s consistent success in winning trophies each season and reaching significant milestones like the Champions League semi-final and Nedbank Cup final.
