Kaizer Chiefs have officially ended their pursuit of DR Congo forward Fiston Mayele. The club, preparing for the upcoming continental season, faced numerous challenges in securing the striker’s transfer. Despite identifying Mayele as a key target to bolster their attack, complications in negotiations have led to the decision to withdraw from the deal.
The primary issue arose from increasing interest from other clubs, which drove up Mayele’s price. Additionally, Pyramids FC’s efforts to extend his contract further complicated matters. A source indicated that unless there is a significant change in Pyramids FC’s position, Kaizer Chiefs are unlikely to revisit their interest in Mayele.
Currently, Kaizer Chiefs have four strikers: Wandile Duba, Ashley Du Preez, Ranga Chivaviro, and Tashreeq Morris. The club is now exploring other options for strengthening their forward line.
This decision highlights a strategic shift by Kaizer Chiefs towards a more disciplined approach in the transfer market, focusing on sustainable investments rather than engaging in costly bidding wars.
