Miguel Cardoso Leads Sundowns to Record-Breaking Season

Miguel Cardoso has emerged as a leading candidate for the Coach of the Season award after guiding Mamelodi Sundowns to their eighth consecutive league title. Taking over from Manqoba Mngqithi in December, Cardoso led the team to victory with one game remaining in the season. Despite a shortened 2024/25 campaign due to Royal AM’s situation, Sundowns set multiple records, including becoming the first team to win all home games. Under Cardoso’s leadership, Sundowns won 18 out of 21 matches, drew one, and lost two, scoring 49 goals while conceding only 10. Although there are suggestions that Jose Riveiro deserves recognition for leading Orlando Pirates to second place, Doctor Khumalo expressed his support for Cardoso on SoccerZone, citing his success in lifting the trophy and reaching the Champions League final.
