Orlando Pirates interim coach, Mandla Ncikazi, is awaiting a decision from the club regarding his future role as they have yet to appoint a permanent successor for Jose Riveiro. Ncikazi has been leading the team in their final three matches of the season after Riveiro requested an early release to join a new club, reportedly Al Ahly. Under Ncikazi’s guidance, the Pirates have secured two 1-1 draws against AmaZulu and TS Galaxy and achieved a 1-0 victory over SuperSport United. The team is set to play their last game against Magesi on Wednesday evening. Ncikazi expressed that he has not received any updates from the club’s management about his position. He stated, ‘I’m working at Pirates – if I’m there, good enough. If I’m not there, and it’s decided, I’m still good enough.‘ Since joining the Pirates in June 2021, Ncikazi has served as an assistant coach under Josef Zinnbauer and later co-coached with Fadlu Davids during the 2022/23 season when they reached the CAF Confederation Cup final.
