Chelsea are preparing to finalise the permanent signing of Jadon Sancho from Manchester United for a reported fee of £25 million. The move comes as the London club seeks reinforcement on the wing, with current uncertainty surrounding Mykhailo Mudryk’s form and fitness.
Sancho, who had previously joined Chelsea on loan, is now expected to make the switch permanent. Initial reports suggested Chelsea might avoid a full transfer by opting to pay a £5 million penalty clause instead. However, the club appears to have decided in favour of a long-term solution by securing the 24-year-old winger on a full-time basis.
The England international has struggled to cement his place at Manchester United since his high-profile move from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. At Chelsea, he has shown signs of resurgence, prompting the club’s interest in keeping him at Stamford Bridge beyond the current campaign.
Sancho’s career began at Manchester City’s academy before he gained prominence at Borussia Dortmund, where he became one of Europe’s most promising attacking talents. His time at Manchester United was marked by inconsistency, but the change of environment at Chelsea seems to have helped him regain confidence.
Chelsea, currently undergoing a squad rebuild, view Sancho as a key piece in their long-term attacking plans. The club continues to adjust its roster, particularly in wide positions, as it navigates challenges with injuries and underperformance.
