Chelsea has shifted its focus to signing Lazio’s Mario Gila after Real Madrid secured Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth for £50 million. The Premier League club is reportedly prepared to meet Lazio’s £25 million asking price for the 24-year-old defender. Gila, a former Real Madrid academy player, has emerged as a priority target for Chelsea following their unsuccessful bid for Huijsen. This season in Serie A, Gila has averaged 2.7 tackles and interceptions and won 4.9 duels per game, compared to Chelsea’s current defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who averages 1.3 tackles and interceptions and wins 3.2 duels per match in the Premier League. Additionally, Gila offers more progressive play with higher numbers in passes and carries per game over the past year.
