Real Madrid has been informed of the valuation of one of Chelsea’s most talked-about midfielders, who has attracted interest from several top European clubs. According to reports, Chelsea values Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández at €120 million (approximately £99.9 million or $126.3 million). Real Madrid is considering this investment ahead of the summer transfer window.
Barcelona and Inter Milan have also expressed interest in the player. However, Chelsea paid a record-breaking fee to sign Fernández from Benfica in February 2023. Despite this, the midfielder hasn’t consistently featured in the starting lineup following the return of Romeo Lavia, who is forming a strong midfield partnership with Moisés Caicedo.
Reports suggest that Chelsea might be open to selling Fernández to partially offset their transfer expenses. Under the ownership of Todd Boehly, the club has spent over £1 billion on new signings, prompting the need for financial balance.
Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, expressed full confidence in the player: “I completely trust Enzo. There’s no reason for me to lose faith in him. My current lineup decisions don’t mean he won’t play in the future. We have a packed schedule, and Enzo will undoubtedly get his chances,” Maresca stated. He also noted that the current formation featuring Lavia and Caicedo enhances the team’s physical presence in midfield, which has made integrating Fernández into the starting eleven more challenging.
Rumors surrounding Fernández’s potential departure continue to circulate. The future of the 23-year-old midfielder might hinge on Chelsea’s decisions during the summer transfer window.
Enzo Fernández, the 23-year-old Argentine midfielder, joined Chelsea in January 2023 for a record £106.8 million fee and signed a contract until 2031. In the 2024/25 season, he has made 22 appearances for the club, including nine in the Premier League, one in the EFL Cup, and two in the UEFA Conference League, but has yet to score a goal.
Chelsea currently holds third place in the Premier League, delivering consistent performances. Recently, the team drew 1–1 with Arsenal on November 10, 2024, and secured a 2–1 victory over Newcastle on October 27, 2024.
Interest in Fernández from Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Inter underscores his high reputation in European football. However, his future at Chelsea remains uncertain, especially given the club’s financial commitments and the competition for midfield spots. Decisions regarding his potential transfer will depend on Chelsea’s strategic plans and the player’s aspirations during the upcoming summer transfer window.
