Aaron Ramsdale has been relegated from the Premier League for the third time in his career following Southampton’s confirmed drop to the Championship in the 2024/25 season.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper has now experienced relegation with three different clubs:
- In 2020, Ramsdale was relegated with Bournemouth.
- In 2021, he faced the same fate with Sheffield United.
- In 2025, he has once again suffered relegation, this time with Southampton.
Ramsdale joined Southampton after a spell at Arsenal, where he had served as the first-choice goalkeeper before losing his place. Despite his efforts this season, the Saints were unable to secure enough points to avoid the drop.
- Ramsdale is one of the few goalkeepers in modern Premier League history to be relegated with three different clubs.
- He was England’s second-choice goalkeeper during the 2022 World Cup.
- Southampton’s relegation comes just two seasons after they had been promoted back to the top flight.
