Aston Villa is reportedly preparing for the departure of goalkeeper Emi Martinez this summer. Recent reports suggest that the club is interested in signing Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher as a potential replacement. Kelleher, valued at £40 million, has been with Liverpool since 2015 but has struggled to secure a starting position due to competition from Alisson. Despite limited appearances, he has impressed during his time on the field, making him an attractive option for Villa.
Martinez’s future at Aston Villa appears uncertain as he is expected to leave the club, with interest from teams in the Saudi Pro League offering lucrative deals. Additionally, both Manchester United and Barcelona are reportedly considering signing the Argentine goalkeeper.
As Aston Villa looks to strengthen their squad for potential Champions League qualification next season, they are also considering Espanyol’s Joan Garcia as a more affordable alternative to Kelleher. The Republic of Ireland international has also attracted interest from other Premier League clubs such as AFC Bournemouth, Chelsea, and Newcastle United.
