Kevin De Bruyne played his final home league game for Manchester City, marking the end of an era at Etihad Stadium. The Belgian midfielder, who has been a pivotal figure in City’s success over the past decade, was honored with a heartfelt farewell that included plans for a statue in his honor outside the stadium. During his last match, City secured a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth. Despite missing a key scoring opportunity, De Bruyne’s contributions to the club remain unmatched, with 16 winners’ medals and numerous accolades to his name.
Manager Pep Guardiola expressed deep admiration for De Bruyne, highlighting the strong connection between the player and the club’s supporters. “Titles are nice,” Guardiola noted, “but when you leave after ten years with this much respect and gratitude, there is nothing else better than that.” De Bruyne’s career statistics include 283 Premier League appearances, 119 assists—second only to Ryan Giggs—and 72 goals.
As he departs Manchester City, speculation surrounds his next move, potentially to Chicago Fire in the United States. Meanwhile, discussions about finding a successor are underway, with Phil Foden and Jack Grealish among potential candidates to fill the void left by De Bruyne.
