The highly anticipated Manchester derby between Manchester United and Manchester City concluded in a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford on April 6, 2025. The result sees both sides secure a single point in their Premier League campaigns without changing their positions significantly in the table.
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro stood out during the match, making 11 successful tackles, the highest recorded by any midfielder against Manchester City since Pep Guardiola took charge in 2016. Casemiro’s performance also set a new benchmark for Manchester United, surpassing Patrice Evra’s record established in 2008.
In contrast, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne had a surprisingly quiet performance, failing to create a single goalscoring opportunity despite playing the full 90 minutes. This marked the first such occurrence for De Bruyne in a Premier League match since April 2018.
The game was intensely contested, resulting in multiple yellow cards for both teams. Manchester City’s Ruben Dias was cautioned within the first minute for rough play, while Bernardo Silva also received a booking early in the second half. United’s Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot, as well as City’s Rico Lewis, joined the list of booked players.
Despite the draw, both teams remain firmly in contention for European qualification spots, setting the stage for a competitive finish to the Premier League season.
